Jazz on the Thames Textile Art
As I was walking across a bridge on the River Thames, I saw this man playing a clarinet. It was beautiful, and I just knew that I to make this piece!
Like painting with strokes of fabric, hundreds of tiny pieces are meticulously added to a canvas and stitched together using my sewing machine to sketch details.
After making this piece, I decided that the building with the clock on it was too bright white, so I have toned the building down with a grey textile paint. I usually don’t like to add paint to achieve the look of a piece, but I think in this case, it has served the piece well. This will remain one of my favorites as it was the first time I ventured across the pond!
*This piece measures 23 1/4”x 23 3/4”.
