This piece is a one of a kind fabric art collage that I designed from a photo that I took of a shark in the Kelp Forest at the Monterey Bay aquarium. I named it “Awestruck at the Kelp Forest “
While raising my children, we would often visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium and drink in the wealth of information and beauty on display. This visit was our first to bring a grandchild to learn and discover many of the wonders of the Pacific Coast. The Monterey Bay Aquarium is a pillar in the community as they encourage people of all ages to get involved in conservation. They strive to share their research in Population Biology, Ecology, and Husbandry. Through learning programs and opportunities, they help to advance public awareness and knowledge of the importance of protecting the ocean. They also promote ocean-friendly seafood by teaching the community at large about ocean sustainability. The Monterey Bay Aquarium is a beautiful place to explore and discover how we can help keep our Pacific coast beautiful and thriving for each generation that follows.
The construction was achieved by raw edge appliqué and free motion quilted.
This piece measures 26 1/2” wide by 40 3/4” tall. It has a 5” sleeve for hanging.
