Pacific International Quilt Festival
Just got back from the PIQF. It is held in Santa Clara and runs through October 20, 2019. I helped at the SAQA booth for a little while. There were so many nice ladies that stopped by. It was so much fun with all the buzz of the festival in the air!
There were so many beautiful Quilts. I tend to be drawn to the fabric collage ones.
This one, “Virginia City Miner” by Le Ann Hileman was one of my favorites.
Another favorite was this “Renewal” by Mimi Ghauri-Young.
And the stunning detail of this one, “Orange Crushed It”, by Andrea Brokenshire of Round Rock, Tx. She won 1st place for Best Sewing Machine Workmanship.
Sue De Vanny of Greenville, Australia won 1st place for Best use of Color in the wall quilt competition.
Absolute favorite was Sandra Mollon of Valley Springs, Ca. who won 1st place for Best Pictorial Quilt “Baker Beach”.
I entered my “Awestruck at the Kelp Forest” into the competition.
If you get a chance, I would highly recommend visiting the PIQF, so many fabulous quilts!
Until later,
Cindy
