Mill Valley Fall Arts Festival 2023

I’ve got summer plans and wanted to let you know what’s coming up!   There are two events that I have been busy getting ready for and I’m excited that I will have some new pieces to show. I recently got back from Carmel, where there is an endless amount of artistic inspiration. I was able to wander and soak in the scenery at Point Lobos, and along the coast of Carmel and Monterey. So, that means gorgeous ocean textile art is on the horizon! So exciting, right? Meanwhile…here are some details for the summer shows. Here is a sneak...

After returning from another trip to the coast, I have begun a piece that I am excited about.  This was from a recent trip, that my husband and I took for the purpose of taking pictures for Art pieces. This one makes me smile, because he doesn’t particularly enjoy the beach. He goes because I love it. And I love him for that!   I was able to dye the sky fabric today and am happy with it so far. Just wanted to share a little of the progress pictures in the making of my latest Textile art.  I decided to work from a photograph that I took at Martin’s Beach in Half Moon Bay.    It was such a joy working on this piece!  So many ideas running through my head for another ocean scene. Although, I think that my next piece will be one of Upper Falls at Yosemite.  Until then, Cynthia   You can see more of my textile art here.    

I’m making progress on the ocean scene that I’ve been working on. I trying to have it done within a week. I was able to get a lot of pictures taken on my trip to Carmel.  It was a little overcast, so I would like to go back when the sun is out. Some shadows make the textile art look better, so I’m going to say that another trip is necessary!   That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.  The next piece that I have on the table is a waterfall scene from Yosemite.  But, I’m a little torn...

 Ocean Textile Art I’ve been working on an ocean scene this week. I couldn’t find just the right fabric for the sky, so I ombré dyed a piece myself.  I wanted it to be darker near the top. It turned out just like the sky from the photograph that I’m working from, so I’m pretty happy about that.  I’ll be heading to Carmel soon to take pictures, and I just can’t wait!  I’m hoping that  it isn’t smoky there.
